  • this has got to be a wierd way for someone to try to contact you but i'm just really stretching for help. i saw that at some point you responded to a post about MCE mouse "daft" issue, when i'm running tv on the primary monitor i can't get the mouse to leave that screen and come to the secondary for me to work on. is there a fix around this in any edition of Media Center? Secondly, if i install a second video card as opposed to two monitors running on one would i have any significant improvements? thank you so much for the time, seems like you're more than busy around here.

  • Hey Jeremy,
My apologies on not getting back to you sooner. You're right - I've been utterly swamped with work so I've neglected my personal blog (which is normally full of spam comments anyhow!)

For your first question - I'm not sure I actually ever found a solution to that problem. Off the top of my head, I can't think of an ideal solution. Here are some ideas:
    1. When in full screen mode - try hitting Ctrl-Esc to bring up the start menu - that might let you move the mouse out of the target window which happens to be MCE. You might then be able to go to your second monitor with your cursor.
    2. Shrink MCE to a window just smaller than the full screen - that'll definitely work!

Hmm.. that's all I can think of right now.

Now for your second question. Performance gains are subjective when it comes to adding a second graphics card. It really depends on what your goals would be for the second card. If you simply want a larger desktop, then you'll be ok with a single graphics card with dual outputs.
Now if you were building a gaming system, the answer would be different of course. Purchase two SLI enabled NVIDIA cards would definitely give you a 3d performance boost in gaming.

Now another thing to consider when it comes to Windows Vista performance. Since it is graphics intensive, you'll be better off with a modern GPU with beefier amounts of memory than two low end graphics cards.

    Hope this helps!
